About the challenge

This is the Youth4Change Hackathon! Compete with your friends or yourself and try to win prizes! Youth4Change is a non-profit organization run by the youth. We focus on projects to help our community!  We will be having a video conference to explain more. This is a beginner-friendly competition.

Get started

The goal of the Hackathon problem is to create a for-the-user application that manages a simple product supply change. This app may be a command line or GUI app. 

Another goal of the Hackathon is to create a for-the-user application that helps vulnerable populations such as those with neurological disorders, mobility issues, etc. This app has to be a GUI app with usable UI.

 

Requirements

What to Build

Topic 1:

For topic 1, make sure to have a clear command line or GUI app that manages a supply chain. Be sure to add features that include: Creating a supply chain, adding products (add shipping type + final destination), finding products, deleting products, exporting and importing chains, and more per your liking. The more features, the higher the chance of winning!

Topic 2:

For topic 2, make sure to have a clear and beautiful design UI that helps the targeted audience in the most beneficial way.

Programming Requirements: 

1. Know a programming language; this app can be done in any.

2. Know the basics of Github; if not, look on youtube to learn about Pulling, Pushing, and Pull Requests. 

What to Submit

When you are done with the application, make sure to have a format that is close to:

Folder: AppName

IntroFiles: README.MD/txt, MIT License, .gitignore(optional)

After that, you are free to code your app in your preferred language. 

The code will be sent as a pull request to a GitHub rep(TBD) or a Google Form.

2nd Place Winner - Silver

The second-place winner gets a $30 cash prize! In addition, they will receive external hacking tools which will be shipped to them.

3rd Place Winner - Bronze
1 winner

The third place winner gets a $20 cash prize! In addition, they will receive external materialistic tools, which will be shipped to them.

  • Functionality
    Does the app work? How well does it work? Do all features work? If a GUI app, how does it look? Does it have many features?
  • Looks (Code)
    Is the file structure good? Does the code appear to be organized? Is it fast and clean?
  • Effort
    Was effort put into the app?
